Roughly 500 community gardens are in place to permit South Shore residents to grow their own vegetables this year. As usual, cities offer residents of the South Shore to rent land from May 1st to October 15th. Of course, there are few basic rules to be allowed to grow your vegetables, like schedule restrictions and cleaning your spot (also no potatoes), but it is a nice meeting place. To rent a garden of 20 by 20 ft, the cost varies from 30 to 35$ for the whole season.
