Giving back to the community is an important aspect of the scout mentality. The activity was mandatory if the scouts wanted to take part in the end of the year trip, the group was still very happy to be cleaning a green space.
The young helpers’ ages are ranging from 12 to 18 and they are all very aware of environmental issues. This cleaning day was important to them as well as to the community. Strangest thing they found in the park was a used diaper. Émilie, 13, questions "it’s crazy what we can find. I cannot understand how people can throw away a used diaper. We are in 2010." Us either.
